• 1. Can complete beginners join a Yoga Teacher Training course?
  • Yes, All of our courses are for both the beginner and the advanced practitioner. All that is required is an open mind, a willing heart and something to give every single day.

• 2. Do I need prior yoga experience before joining?
  • Prior experience is helpful but not required. We have designed our courses to be flexible enough to fit your circumstances. What is most important is your commitment and your real motivation to learn.

• 3. How are the 100, 200, 300, and 500 Hour courses different from each other?
  • The 100-hour and 200-hour courses provide an in-depth and comprehensive introduction into the world of yoga asana, philosophy, anatomy, and the basics of teaching yoga. In contrast, both the 300-hour and 500-hour course offerings touch upon the advanced levels of yoga (inclusive of advanced asanas), as well as additional subjects such as Ayurveda, pranayama, meditation, and developing a refined teaching style.

• 4. What certificate will I receive after completing my course?
  • Upon course completion at Gurukul Yogashala (GYS), you will receive a certificate issued by Gurukul Yogashala stating that you have completed your course, and are eligible to become certified as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance. This certification is recognized and respected by all yoga studios and future employers worldwide.

• 5. What yoga styles will I learn at Gurukul Yogashala?
  • You will learn traditional styles of Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, and Vinyasa Yoga. Yin. We also offer quality instruction in Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Anatomy, Philosophy, and Ayurveda. Our courses provide you with a good balance of all aspects of yoga.

• 6. How long are the courses?
  • We have several durations depending on which program you choose. The 100-Hour program runs for 12 days; 200 Hour for 22 days; 300 Hour for 28 days; and 500-Hour is our longest, most extensive program.

• 7. Is Gurukul Yogashala registered with Yoga Alliance?
  • Yes! We are registered with, and proudly representing, the Yoga Alliance Certification (the largest and most recognized teacher training organisation in the world). You can check out their website at any time to see our credentials and verify our registration with them.

• 8. I am coming from another country. Is it safe and easy to study here?
  • Yes! Rishikesh, where we are located, is one of the safest and most friendly cities throughout the globe for any international traveller! We take great care of our students while they are with us; and we have welcomed students from more than 70 countries and all of them have been happy and comfortable studying at Gurukul Yogashala.

• 9. Do I need a visa to attend the course?
  • Yes, to enter India, international students must obtain a valid tourist visa. We recommend obtaining a minimum of 30 days on your tourist visa to ensure you can finish your course.

• 10. How do I prepare before arriving at Gurukul Yogashala?
  • The most important thing to prepare for is your commitment - make sure you are ready to put forth full effort and to be present every day. If you would like to prepare ahead of time, you can view the Gurukul Yogashala YouTube channel for video demonstrations of what will be taught at the course.
