When you arrive at Gurukul Yogashala you are not only enrolling in a course. You are entering a new lifestyle at least for a few weeks. And a living space that can take you through such a lifestyle has to be safe, serene and cozy.
Here we are, in the holy town of Rishikesh, at the foot of the majestic Himalayas, right next to the sacred Ganga. This is a town that has been inhabited by sages, yogis and souls seeking for thousands of years. The moment you arrive and take a deep breath of the mountain air you will know what we mean there is something unique about this town. A stillness. A gentleness. An essence that you are exactly where you need to be.
Here at Gurukul Yogashala, we’ve worked hard to ensure your accommodations are a reflection of the tranquility of your environment. We know that when your body is rested and your mind is relaxed, you will be able to dive much deeper into your practice. That's why we’ve ensured your room, your food, and every aspect of your stay is catered for and attended to.
You are not just a student passing through. You are a guest in our home - and we treat you like family.
We, at Gurukul Yogashala, are really serious about the food because we have an opinion that real yoga is not only what you do on a mat but it includes all part of your life and also that what you put inside of the body. Think about it this way. During your time here, you are cleansing your body through Shatkarma practices. You are building strength and resilience of the physical body through asana. You are going inwards through Pranayama and meditation. You are learning theory to train your mind through philosophy and ancient wisdom. You are resting deeply!
All of these things work together. They are parts of a whole system – like an orchestra. And food is one of those parts. When you have the right kind of food – clean, fresh, lovingly prepared food, you find everything else works better. Your energy is steady. Your mind is clear. Your practice goes deep.
This is the underlying logic behind the yoga diet prescribed by yoga gurus over thousands of years – Sattvic food. The Sattvic diet is pure and natural. It calms your mind, sustains your body and underpins every facet of your yoga voyage. This is the food we serve at Gurukul Yogashala, daily. Our students truly relish it.

My experience for 200 Hour Yoga TTC at the Gurukul Yogashala was good. It wasn’t just about learning yoga, it was about living the yogic lifestyle for 27 days. We practiced yoga twice a day, meditation, and shatkarma, philosophy, alignment, ayurveda and much more, enjoyed fresh Sattvic food every day. Thankyou Gurukul Yogashala🙏.
