Gurukul Yogashala is located in the heart of Rishikesh, it is a traditional yoga school devoted to sharing authentic yogic wisdom in the world-famous Yoga Capital of the World. We are a proudly accredited Yoga Alliance school that offers teacher training courses and yoga retreats for every level of student - from those just beginning their practice to advanced practitioners searching for the true meaning and experience of yoga through traditional teachings.
At Gurukul Yogashala we offer teacher training programs that include 100, 200, 300, and 500 hour course offerings; we also provide specialist teacher training courses such as 85-hour prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher training, Yin yoga teacher training, Ayurveda teacher training, Aerial Yoga teacher training and sound healing teacher training. If you’re looking for a way to recharge and rediscover yourself through yoga, then you have found the right place. Regardless of your location; Rishikesh India or anywhere else, we are here for you!

The Meaning Behind Our Name
The name Gurukul has a very long deep meaning and it describes our spirit; what we stand for and how we teach.
In old India, the Gurukul was a very special place of education. Students, or shishyas, would stay with their teacher, 24/7, sharing his house as one family.
They would learn from him, eat with him and practice along with him every day for years.
The word itself originated from Sanskrit. Guru may refer as a Teacher or Master and Kula as a family or a home.
So the word Gurukul has been coined as a home of a teacher in the primitive sense of the term.
This is the spirit we embody here at the Gurukul Yogashala. The moment you cross our doorstep, you aren't just a student number, you are a member of our family.
Gurukul Yogashala was founded by Guru Yogi Arvind, a deeply dedicated yogi who has given his life to sharing the true knowledge of yoga with the world. Everything we do here is built on his guiding belief - a beautiful phrase from ancient Sanskrit:

We safeguard and uphold the Millennium teachings of Yog Sadhna – the way of yoga as preserved through the Vedic path since ages. And we offer this gift sincerely and lovingly to everyone who seeks at our doorstep.
Yoga Alliance (YA) is an internationally acknowledged nonprofit based out of Virginia, USA that provides international guidelines for establishing standards and qualifications for the field of yoga teacher training programs and schools. To be registered with YA means that the yoga school meets YA's very high standards for curriculum, quality of instruction, ethics, etc.
At Gurukul Yogashala we are a fully registered Yoga Alliance (YA) program. In order to become a YA registered yoga teacher, you must hold a YA certificate; therefore, after your completion of your training with us, you will receive a YA recognized and accepted certificate of completion which qualifies you to teach anywhere in the world.

My experience for 200 Hour Yoga TTC at the Gurukul Yogashala was good. It wasn’t just about learning yoga, it was about living the yogic lifestyle for 27 days. By AirJolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest airport, approximately 25 km from Rishikesh. Daily domestic flights connect Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport to Dehradun. From the airport, taxis are readily available to the ashram, and we can arrange an airport pickup on request for an additional fee.
By TrainRegular train services connect Delhi and major cities to Haridwar Railway Station, approximately 25 km from Rishikesh. From Haridwar, taxis and shared vehicles connect to the ashram. We can arrange Haridwar station pickup on request.
By TaxiWe can also arrange a convenient cab pickup from Delhi to our school in Rishikesh for a reasonable fee.
By RoadRishikesh is approximately 5 to 6 hours by road from Delhi via the NH58. Luxury bus services operate regularly from Delhi's ISBT Kashmere Gate. From Rishikesh bus stand, a short taxi or auto-rickshaw ride brings you to the ashram.
