For yoga instructors, their journey is a never-ending journey that continues to get deeper. This is why we consider our 200 Hour + Yin Yoga Teacher Training as a unique opportunity at Gurukul Yogashala, one of the most recognized traditional yoga schools in Rishikesh (India), to create the most effective teachers who can teach others the dual nature of yoga: the fire and the stillness.

This combined course will give you an in-depth foundation of knowledge and experience, through the inclusive 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh and through the calming and transformational 200-Hour Yin Training Course. You will graduate with an RYT-200 certification as a yoga teacher, yet have had experiences in your abilities to know how to teach every aspect of yoga.

This program will fulfill your needs whether you're starting teaching for the very first time or looking to build upon what you already offer. This combined training will take you through all of yoga-from Ashtanga and Vinyasa's strength and precision to Yin's long, meditative stillness. You will learn how to teach not just asanas, but also how to hold space, read a room, and assist students into both effort and surrender. When you leave Rishikesh, you will receive two certifications along with one sustainable and integrated practice.

Modern society has moved us away from nature's cycles; our bodies are over-stimulated, our nervous systems are fatigued and our connective tissues are not cared for, so at Gurukul Yogashala we have created a course with this idea in mind. The first course we created was a 200 Hour & Yin Yoga combo training program based on the ancient "Gurukul" system of teaching where students and teachers learn together, experience growth together.

This is not just a yoga training course but also an experience of living as a yogi. Everything taught within the scope of this program, whether it be Ashtanga or Vinyasa flow or even the slow held Yin postures, has been designed specifically for your own personal development and also for the purpose of providing you with the tools necessary to create a long lasting, balanced and nourishing yoga practice for yourself and your future students.

This course starts from 2nd of every month.

Why the 200 Hour + Yin Yoga Combo?

Because Balance Is the Foundation of Great Teaching

A confident yoga instructor is aware of the experience of both action and inactivity - effort and surrender - in yoga. The 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh provides you with the hands-on foundation for all three styles of yoga, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Hatha, as well as anatomy, philosophy, pranayama, and teaching skills that will help you to lead dynamic classes. In addition to this active foundation, the Yin Yoga Teacher Training Course will provide you with an element that most 200 Hour TTC’s do not offer - the slow, contemplative, deeply healing aspect of yoga that so many students are seeking today.

Our instructors are experienced yogis who have devoted their entire careers to the practice of yoga. They teach from their own lived experience and share that knowledge with students as part of the Vedic traditions passed down through many generations.

Certified Yin Yoga Training

Focus on Mindfulness & Meditation

Yin Yoga is a type of yoga that emphasizes calmness of body and stillness of mind while holding postures called "Yin" for an extended period of time, usually between 2-5 minutes and up to 10 or more minutes if you are experienced in this style of yoga. This style differs greatly from the many different formats of Yang (dynamic) yoga due to the fact that it focuses on the deeper levels of the body (connective tissue, ligaments, fascia, and joints), rather than on the more superficial layers that are reached by regular classes in each of the Yang practices. Yin Yoga is based on the principles of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and Taoism and follows the meridian (energy) system of the body (Qì/Prāṇa) to maintain a healthy energetic flow through each of the meridian pathways. If these energy channels are blocked or congested, there will be a presence of physical tension and emotional imbalance in the body.

  • Learning the different yin postures and how to safely align them.
  • Intelligent sequencing of classes that are both therapeutic and balanced.
  • Learning the Philosophy Of Yin and Yang and why every instructor may want to have at least a basic understanding of both.
  • Using props and modifications in order to be able to cater to different body types in your more diverse class set.
  • Learning the principles of Teaching Methodology including how to hold space, how to cue effectively, and how to get students into the Still Place.
  • Integrating Mindfulness and Meditation techniques into your Yin practice.

Your Spiritual Home in Rishikesh

Transform Your Practice and Launch Your Global Teaching Career

After finishing your training program in Yoga Teacher (RYT-200), you will have the RYT-200 Certification from Yoga Alliance, USA. This certification is one of the most recognised certifications for teaching yoga worldwide and is used to support your ability to register as an approved teacher. It will also give you the opportunity to teach in many different places around the world including studios, wellness centres, resorts, and online. The Yin Yoga Teacher Certification Training provides an internationally recognised certificate for use on its own - it is not dependent upon any other certification and offers a unique and specialised addition to your teaching credentials. As a result, with both of these certifications you will provide yourself with a strong ability to be a flexible, complete, and sought after Yoga Professional.

Authentic Teachings Made Accessible

What You Will Master: Key Takeaways

  • Ancient Traditions : All subjects taught during this program are rooted in Vedic teachings, Taoist philosophy, and living yogic experience - honouring the origins of both Hatha yoga and Yin practice.
  • Expert Yoga Instructors : Every session is led by Registered Yoga Teachers with extensive personal practice, deep knowledge of meridian theory and connective tissue anatomy, and the credentials to guide you with confidence.
  • Comprehensive Curriculum : The curriculum spans asanas, Yin postures, yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, anatomy, pranayama, meditation, meridian theory, and teaching methodology - covering the full spectrum of both teacher training programs.
  • Holistic Learning : All course material, activities, and responsibilities are developed equally across the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions throughout every module of both programs.
  • Dual Certification : Upon successful completion of both programs, you will graduate with an RYT-200 Yoga Alliance certification and an internationally recognised Yin Yoga Teacher Training certificate - valid everywhere in the world.
  • Ready for Class : By the time you complete your training, you will have the confidence and skills to lead dynamic Yang classes, slow meditative Yin sessions, and everything in between - adapting your teaching for diverse student needs.
  • Life Changing Experience : The 200 Hour + Yin Yoga Teacher Training at Gurukul Yogashala in Rishikesh is more than a dual certification - it is a complete transformation of how you move, breathe, teach, and live.
