For yoga instructors, their journey is a never-ending journey that continues to get deeper. This is why we consider our 200 Hour + Yin Yoga Teacher Training as a unique opportunity at Gurukul Yogashala, one of the most recognized traditional yoga schools in Rishikesh (India), to create the most effective teachers who can teach others the dual nature of yoga: the fire and the stillness.
This combined course will give you an in-depth foundation of knowledge and experience, through the inclusive 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh and through the calming and transformational 200-Hour Yin Training Course. You will graduate with an RYT-200 certification as a yoga teacher, yet have had experiences in your abilities to know how to teach every aspect of yoga.
This program will fulfill your needs whether you're starting teaching for the very first time or looking to build upon what you already offer. This combined training will take you through all of yoga-from Ashtanga and Vinyasa's strength and precision to Yin's long, meditative stillness. You will learn how to teach not just asanas, but also how to hold space, read a room, and assist students into both effort and surrender. When you leave Rishikesh, you will receive two certifications along with one sustainable and integrated practice.
Modern society has moved us away from nature's cycles; our bodies are over-stimulated, our nervous systems are fatigued and our connective tissues are not cared for, so at Gurukul Yogashala we have created a course with this idea in mind. The first course we created was a 200 Hour & Yin Yoga combo training program based on the ancient "Gurukul" system of teaching where students and teachers learn together, experience growth together.
This is not just a yoga training course but also an experience of living as a yogi. Everything taught within the scope of this program, whether it be Ashtanga or Vinyasa flow or even the slow held Yin postures, has been designed specifically for your own personal development and also for the purpose of providing you with the tools necessary to create a long lasting, balanced and nourishing yoga practice for yourself and your future students.
This course starts from 2nd of every month.
A confident yoga instructor is aware of the experience of both action and inactivity - effort and surrender - in yoga. The 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh provides you with the hands-on foundation for all three styles of yoga, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Hatha, as well as anatomy, philosophy, pranayama, and teaching skills that will help you to lead dynamic classes. In addition to this active foundation, the Yin Yoga Teacher Training Course will provide you with an element that most 200 Hour TTC’s do not offer - the slow, contemplative, deeply healing aspect of yoga that so many students are seeking today.
Our instructors are experienced yogis who have devoted their entire careers to the practice of yoga. They teach from their own lived experience and share that knowledge with students as part of the Vedic traditions passed down through many generations.
Yin Yoga is a type of yoga that emphasizes calmness of body and stillness of mind while holding postures called "Yin" for an extended period of time, usually between 2-5 minutes and up to 10 or more minutes if you are experienced in this style of yoga. This style differs greatly from the many different formats of Yang (dynamic) yoga due to the fact that it focuses on the deeper levels of the body (connective tissue, ligaments, fascia, and joints), rather than on the more superficial layers that are reached by regular classes in each of the Yang practices. Yin Yoga is based on the principles of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and Taoism and follows the meridian (energy) system of the body (Qì/Prāṇa) to maintain a healthy energetic flow through each of the meridian pathways. If these energy channels are blocked or congested, there will be a presence of physical tension and emotional imbalance in the body.
The course which spans between 28 days that will help to understand the traditional teachings with a modern outlook so you can easily apply in your daily life and teach others also after the completion of the course. Let's have a look what you will learn :
Hatha yoga is one of the most ancient branches of yoga, with a history dating back over a thousand years. Sessions in Hatha Yoga Teacher Training are rooted in ancient practices that evolve your consciousness to a higher understanding.
K. Pattabhi Jois developed a modern-day form called Ashtanga Vinyasa in the mid-20th century, an energetic practice of mindful movements with breath awareness. In a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course, the primary series of Mysore-style Ashtanga is taught in a systematic manner to help you achieve your goal.
Vinyasa Flow has movement sequences with focus on the breath. Vinyasa Flow is all about the deep inhale and exhale of your breath as you move from one posture to another.
Shatkarma is a series of six types of cleansing activities that help with physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual cleansing. Cleansing your body is a fundamental step toward working on your yoga journey.
Pranayama or the method of rhythmic breathing is a style of yoga, where using different techniques of breathing we fulfil the requirement of the body and purify it. The concentration over breathing not only helps in delivering the right amount of oxygen or detoxifying but also helps in improving and deepening the connection of the mind with the body while improving calmness and concentration. The course will help the student learn different locks, styles and mudra for the practice of pranayama.
Pranayama is the practice of rhythmic breathing to purify the body, provide oxygen, and enhance the mind–body connection. It promotes calmness, focus, and concentration. This course teaches various breathing techniques, locks, and mudras for effective practice.
Mudras are the divine gestures that channel and distribute prana in the body. Most of the mudras are performed by hand. Practitioners can have immense benefits from mudras if they are performed in the right manner under the guidance of an expert.
While doing yoga, your body generates a lot of energy or prana. With mudra, channel this energy and with bandhas, control and maintain it in the body to prevent it from draining. When done right, the bandhas can also help awaken the Kundalini.
Mantra Meditation employs the power of chanting to align mind, body, and spirit, expanding awareness and facilitating inner and outer healing.
Yoga asanas make the body stable and pranayama soothes the nervous system, thus preparing the flow of prana to be channelized effectively and making it easier for the mind to focus. Practicing pratyahara, or the controlling of sense, further facilitates control of the mind which is the preparation for meditation.
Yoga Nidra (psychic sleep) is sleeping in awareness in such a way that takes you from a conscious state to a superconscious state of awareness.
Understanding the history and philosophy of yoga not only helps you to grasp the deep meaning Yoga has in our life but also helps you integrate the philosophy into your life. Various ancient philosophies will be introduced to you like Bhagwat Geeta, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Patanjali Yoga Sutra and much more.
Yoga is not only a set of postures to keep you fit but also a holistic lifestyle and philosophy that enhances one's mind, body, and soul. A yogi's lifestyle opens doors for every individual to the highest form of knowledge.
Kundalini Yoga is practised to activate the kundalini energy, which sits at the base of the spine. Kundalini awakening is called the ultimate form of yoga sadhana that is attained after steadily mastering the previous layers of yoga sadhana. The term kundalini comes from the Sanskrit word "Kundal" which means circular or the coiled snake at the base of the spine. During the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, you will have a comprehensive introduction to Kundalini Yoga which will help you in understanding what the subject entails and how to move ahead in the future regarding an in-depth understanding of this vast subject Kundalini Yoga.
Ayurveda is the ancient Indian science of holistic healing that nurtures balance of the body, mind, and spirit. Through traditional Ayurvedic practices, the body is purified and harmonized by balancing the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, supporting natural health and inner well-being.
Applied Ayurveda focuses on bringing ancient Ayurvedic wisdom into daily life. By understanding and practicing these principles, one learns how to live a balanced, healthy, and harmonious life in alignment with nature.
